It was an emergency call to attend, a friend (my friends would always associate me with beautiful girls) had called on me to rush to the house immediately ...

I was running my fingers on the Uber app to hire a cab, but did not get one ...

Disappointed I called up an Uber driver, whom I know ... but he was on an off ...

God save, I had to then use the public transport with an aroma of stink and sticky smell, emanating all around ...

I kept open my conversation with the Uber driver ... I asked what's the reason for supply dropping down? Is it the outcome Karnataka govt's decision to ban surge pricing by taxi service aggregators?

Driver: Aaiyo, illa bidee sir (Arey, dump that argument, sir) ... The reason for you not getting a cab is simple ... I will make you understand ...

I am selling cake for Rs 50, be sure I will always get the cake even if I am a bit late, because the demand is less for it ...

The moment I fix to Rs 5, you will not get the coveted piece of cake, because the demand is high ...

Andre, nodi sir ... you did not get the cab because the demand was high due to flat rates ...

In fact, the surge price makes cab available for the most needy ... It is logic (he meant to say its demand-and-supply dynamics) ....

It also helps me to get some more cash ... I am getting the incentive for my sacrifice ... sacrifice of being with my family at lunch hour for instance ...

Wouldn't you give bakshis if I sacrificed just to make you reach your destination, sir?

Me: Yes ... I have done it many times .. That's human psychology ...

Driver: Eee govt navaru namm hotthhe ge hoditaydarey (This Siddaramaiah govt is battering our stomach) ... yaake (why)... can't they improve public transport system, which will create a parallel market and automatically regulate our bosses (private cab aggregators) ...

What gurantee is that you get a cab when needed the most if surge pricing is banned ... I needn't explain to you again ... have already done ...

Me: Do you really know the algorithms of how the surge multiplier arrives at 5x or 12x?

Driver: Gothillaa sir ...

Me: Nor does anyone knows, except the aggregators ... in this scenario it is better to cap the surge multiplier to a fixed price such as 5x and convey the cap clearly to people ....

Driver: Howdu sir, sometimes I am embarrassed to ask 9 times the base price from the commuter ... I do not know how the surge multiplier works ... capping of surge price will be fine ...

Sir, if you do not want to pay more, this is for other cities now, then you wait for just five minutes ... surge pricing lasts for a very short period ...

Become a savvy cab passenger .... ashte hellake ishta padtini ... sigona sir .... Now you you don't dig into my trade secrets to batter my stomach ...

I have never been a big fan of the Khans, but I watch their movies because of their association with big directors and respectable banners .... That's another issue ...

Though this actor is in no good books of mine (black buck shooting case, Aishwaraya Rai row, mowing down people, the drunken driving case), looking at the merit of the decision, he is the right choice ...

After all, Salman is not participating in the Rio for him to meet the credentials as a sportsperson, but to attract public attention ... that's his job and he fits in there, perfectly ...

This brings me to ask the cry-boobies, who else is there who can woo people? ... Aamir Khan ... Shahruk Khan? ... The twitterattis would have been more animated as they hurtingly jumped on to the intolerance bandwagon ...

Well Yogeshwar's tweet triggered the debate, but many sportspersons like him have batted for Salman's appointment .... the list is long which includes Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, Vishwanathan Anand to boxing champion Mary Kom ...

You may ask why not make Tendulkar instead of Salman?

That wouldn't be a good idea ... after all, cricket is not an Olympic sport ...

All said and done - do we see any purpose behind Yogeshwar Dutt's rant? Salman's 'Sultan' releases on July 6 where he is playing a wrestler's role ... a perfect timing for each other to rake in moolah, I suppose  ... haha ...

To bring the case to its logical conclusion, the Italian investigators had requested India to share critical documents related to the Rs 3,565 crore deal ...

Subsequently, Ministry of Defence submitted three documents a year later, despite Italy asking for full documentation in 2013 ...

The court then speculated India's unwillingness to cooperate in the investigation was due to the result of political pressure from the top ...

What made the court speculate this, was the handwritten note recovered from AgustaWestland Chief Giuseppe Orsi's cell in March 2013 ...

The note clearly suggested that Orsi tried to get the then Prime Minister of Italy Mario Monty and his diplomatic advisor Pasquale Q Terracciano, to intervene and reach out to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ....

Persistent he was, despite the RSS leader saying the outfit had already passed the resolution years back ... difficult was for me to understand his persistence, but easy for me to recollect the historical events which led to demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya ...

What were the events ... Who was the architect? ... Who should be held responsible for sowing the seeds of polarising India?

He acknowledges the error of judgement on part of Rajiv Gandhi to make a law, nullifying the court’s verdict in Shah Bano case, and opening of Ram Janmabhoomi temple site on February 1, 1986 ...

Though these are fleeting references, the President has sought to put the record straight, in the backdrop of Congress trying to coverup Rajiv's follies, with hidden support from obliging sections of media and academics ...

These set of people drunk on Goebbels' theory (Big Lie Theory) try to shift blame on Narasimha Rao and BJP, for what are Rajiv's mistakes, hardly realising drunkness brings a person down crashing, even after a slightest of resistence (Pranab Da's book) ... haha ...




But, why did Rajiv take these decisions? What was the ploy to gain political dividends?

Rajiv was accused of Muslim appeasement in post-Shah Bano phase and to appease the Hindus, he showcased his commitment to build Ram Temple by ensuring his government's official participation in the shilanyas ceremony, which virtually signalled building of Ram Temple ...

This he did to garner Hindu vote on the eve of Lok Sabha polls in 1989 ... and these moves led to communal polarisation and demolition of Babri Masjid ...

I must, and every Indian, should be grateful to Pranab Da for making such references that has initiated a debate in the country ...

Three cheers for this "half a BJP man" Pranab Da, who is no less than "half a Congress man" Atal Behari Vajpayee, in terms of political experience. He has seen it all ... and nobody can question his political wisdom ... period ...

The supply-determined economy was arduous ... my father wanted to a have a scooter, a house and telephone ... he had money to pay for them, but couldn't buy ... thanks to the Nehruvian socialism, which was the baby of the dynasty rule ... that stalled everything from purchasing due to the draconian "License Raj" ...

Years later, Infosys Founding member NR Narayana Murthy said in an interview of how he faced hardships under Nehruvian socialism while building an IT services company ...

He said he visited Delhi 25 times to get a permit to import the type of computer he needed to meet the needs of the contract for software he had obtained ...

This rough weather has passed by ... things have changed. 

I believe in RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan’s "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" remark. 

Yes, Indian economy is on a strong wicket amidst a global downturn ...

How this change take place? ... who were the people who did it?

The bold decision to do away with Nehruvian model economy and adopt free-market structure was taken by a non-Gandhi family Congress leader P V Narasimha Rao and economist Finance Minister Manmohan, despite the then govt enjoyed a wafer thin majority in Parliament ...

After them, AB Vajpayee shipped India's market economy to safer zone and transformed the face of India, during his tenure as the PM from 1998 ...

The first real thrust for market economy came from Vajpayee govt. It brought about telecom reforms, consistently pursued disinvestment drive,  introduced low fare pvt airline services, opened avenues for cable TV channels ...

It also fattened the foreign exchange reserve by $300 billion, created new jobs in IT sector, boosted oil refining, trade, telecom, tourism and travel, ATM banking, e-governance, the construction boom businesses among others ...

And by the time, Vajpayee completed his tenure as PM, India's growth rate climbed to 8 per cent plus from 2.5 per cent when he assumed the saddle from Congress rule ...

Surely, the first phase of the market thrust to Indian economy came from BJP-led govt ....

The second phase of thrust to the economy is coming from yet another BJP-led govt with Modi as PM ...

He has driven the market economy through a series of reforms like national market for agriculture products, the proposed GST, extensive e-governance, the Digital India framework ...

Also reforms like enervating the railways network with high speed trains, exclusive freight corridors, support to start-ups and entrepreneurs, the big push to manufacturing through the Make in India programme ... the list is long ...

Priyanka May Spell Doom For Cong, Anyways

Election strategist Kishore has proposed Priyanka Gandhi as chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh ...

While it is too early to predict the outcome of this ruse, it certainly has a risk element to some extent, and it may cause damage to the  family and the Congress ...

How it may cause damage?

1) Suppose, the Congress manages to win 100-125 seats, though I believe these numbers seem fantasy to me for now, there will be an attempt to upgrade her to a national role and dump Rahul Gandhi ...

How will the family then face this odd situation? It will be a million dollar question ....

2) And if she fails to lift the party prospects and fairs poorly for garnering merely 25-30 seats, then what next?

The party will be forced to swallow the bitter pill of campaigning under the aegis of defeated war-horses - one (Rahul) who was muzzled in 2012 and 2014; another would be Priyanka vanquished in 2017.

Uttarakhand Row: Supreme Court Spoils Congress Plan

Kudos to the Supreme Court to have stayed the Uttarakhand High Court's verdict which had set aside President's Rule and restored the dislodged Harish Rawat govt ....

This unethical atomistic ruling was delivered despite the established impression that the Rawat govt had lost the trust of a majority in the House ...

Clearly the High Court appears of not to have taken a holistic view on the vexed issue ...

What are the facts to justify my claim that the ruling was atomistic, not holistic?

The HC did not take into consideration the ugly developments leading to the imposition of President's Rule by the centre ...

What were the developments?

1) The opposition of nine of the ruling party's Legislators to a money Bill

2) Speaker refusing to meet a majority demand for a division in passing the money Bill

3) The disqualification of nine MLAs by the Speaker before a trust vote was to be taken by the Rawat govt ...

Also, the HC did not address the rebel Congress legislators' grievance


So, it was inapproriate of the HC to have taken an atomistic view and deliver the judgement, even before it could pass a final verdict or even interim orders ...

However, I am of the view that though it is worth looking into the unconstitutional reasons given by the Governor in support of imposition of President’s rule, the centre needs to answer the logic behind imposing president’s rule a day before the floor test


It should also explain why it did not approach the court against the speaker’s decision"

Modi Government should be careful to see - it must not make President's Rule the norm in the days to come ...

The Unwanted Bark Over Rajan's Andhon Mein Kana Raja Comment

Should Rajan's remarks - andho mein kana raja (in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king) - be taken to mean he was critical about NDA govt's performance?

What is the meaning of the idiom?

Well it means - a person with a little ability is favored among persons with no or lesser ability ...

So, he meant to say Indian economic (Kana Raja) growth is better when compared to other less-growing and developed economies (andhon) ...

So, it is clear: Kana Raja = Good Indian economic growth, and Andhon = less-growing economies

Even, Rajan has already clarified his statement in Pune during an address ...

So, what's the fuss about? Why this controversy? 

For wise men at least his comments were apt, sane and importantly harmless, with good intent ... not meant to run down the country's economic performance ...

I see mischief at play ... I am not surprised at all .... We all witnessed such mischievous play earlier too ... it's becoming a fad ...

Two good examples are: Modi's 'sadness if even a puppy came under the wheels of a vehicle' remark ... 

His rivals pounced on it, claiming he was equating the lives of humans killed in 2002 Gujarat violence to dogs. 

Another remark was Union Minister General VK Singh ...

Countering rivals for blaming the central govt for being blamed for death of two Dalit children in Faridabad fire, Singh had commented, "Even if a stone thrown at a stray dog will invite accusation against the Centre."

Singh was relentlessly criticised for equating Dalits with dogs ...

By doing this, the Opposition believed they could score over the govt for vote-bank politics .. but sooner than later it evaporated ...

And so would the hoarse sounds of Raghuram Rajan comment die down in the din of "barking" TRP guys, picking up another set of bones to run their wet tongues on ... Haha ...
