Users Count In "Mio" For #Jio

Image result for reliance jio
I am bowled over by the biz acumen of that smartest of marwaris

Had been to Reliance Digital on Cunnigham Road for my staff to buy him a Jio sim

I realised how could just an announcement of cheap rates could draw people to the store without realising what trap this foxy marwari has laid for them

The trap

My staff was all hullabaloo about Jio .... Jio is this, jio is that  .... Jio is cheap .... Jio is sophisticated service
I muttered let us see you will be in for a surprise

What was the surprise?

I asked for the sim with cheapest service

But realised that his smartphone is only 3G enabled, neither VoLTE nor LTE
So, is there an alternative?  He asks

The agent says: Sir, hai na. But you have to buy WiFi hotshot,  that is JioFi chip costing Rs 2,000

Pause

My staff looks at me with a vacant gaze ... wryly nods and wants to buy JioFi  ...

But changes his mind and falls into the great marwari's trap and buys VoLTE enabled Reliance handset by spending extra Rs 500 plus Rs 499 28-day circle pack

A man who went out to buy jio by spending a few hundred rupees ended up spending thousands

Pause

Then, out of curiosity I clicked on my settings and found out my mobile network mentioning LTE enabled
Till then I was least bothered to know about it. Thanks to the cunning marwari. His service enlightened me

But the enlightenment didn't lighten my disappointment.  For once I thought of going for Reliance handset with an inherent VoLTE feature

I was about to fall prey to the marwari bait

But downloaded jio join app, hardly knowing in future that could cost a few bucks after December

Pause

My understanding of this marwari's biz is -

Same like the nikammi sarkar which taxes heavily the middle class  - low or high income, and the workers

This marwari knows very well the largest chunk of smartphone users only have 2g or 3G, and therefore he has smartly dangled the cheap price and free call announcements to entice these low-end phone users to buy the add-on packs

Result? They end up falling into the trap to buy add-ons, spending more than expected
This could be a strategy to recover the losses due to free voice call service ...

Pause

My Observation

The price announcement benefits the high-end smartphone users,  not the low or middle-end smartphone users  ....

Hope you got my point .....

Don't Write Me Off - How True Dr Rajan!!!

Fly he will, and he would in September ...

Yes, Dr Raghuram Rajan announced he is going back to academia ...

Wasn't happy, for someone special had bet quite the opposite ...

But I was preening proud to see the truth coming true ... but had to receive flak from the dear ones ....

So, what next?

Life moves on and we all have to flow with it ... that's the philosophy of being Indian ... sab kuch achche ke liye hota hai, and the next moment you start feeling better ... there's deep meaning in this philosophy, and that's why you would find Indians humane, an anti-thesis of ISIS - I make this statement ...

Dr Rajan, who made the government to scurry for cover with his open statements, was "thorn in the flesh" and would remain so for the next three years as well .... Whatever the new RBI Governor would do, he would be measured in terms of what Dr Rajan did ...

The ghost of Dr Rajan is certain to follow the new Governor as his shadow ...

Did he mean this, when in Bengaluru, he said: Don't write me off, not yet ...

Did he mean his ghost will follow the incumbent for next three years. Could be ... haha ...

But one thing is certain ... What? ...

Narendra Modi government would be hounded if it appoints a poor cousin to Dr Rajan ... I wish the government does not want to land itself into the turf of controversies, as it had when it announced Pahalaj Nihalini and Gajendra Chouhan as CBFC and FTII chiefs ...

Though, I don't believe in qualifications, but deliverance ... One needn't be a cook to know the taste ... haha ...

Deliverance, if the new governor brings on the table, Modi and his team will be spared for sure ....

But will that be easy? Not so for the new Governor ...

The successor will have to live with unfair and dogged comparisons with his illustrious predecessor ... for instance .... the Barkhas and Arnabs and last but not the least "someone special" will be at my neck for the next three years, if he allows interest rate cuts - that could be misconstrued as succumbing to government pressures ... haha ...

This apart, the new Governor will have to deal with challenges, from reforming the NPA-ridden public sector banks to playing a key role in triggering economic revival and growth at a time when the world economy is on the brink of a downturn ...

Pause ...

What makes a good RBI Governor?

To me, I believe in TSR Subramanian, a former cabinet secretary's thouroughly unbiased article published in The New Indian Express, dated June 26 ...

He says, "Ideally, every RBI governor needs to have two key qualifications —one, he must be an internationally renowned expert on monetary policy, and second, he should know India well and be familiar with field conditions."

Subramanian further says, "There is no question that Dr Rajan commanded respect in international circles—indeed, many saw him as the guardian of national interests in the world arena, symbolising Indian financial stability. The sad fact is that many governors in the past had familiarity with monetary policy issues; alas many did not know India well."

Who could be the guiding force ... who could make us understand India better?

Mahatma Gandhi, the answer lies there, for sure ...

Hope, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Urjit Patel, Subir Gokarn or Rakesh Mohan - go into the Mahatma's mind and find out ways to understand India, better ....

Pause

Who could be the next Governor?

I bet on Arundhati - she has lived and wallowed in NPA-ridden public sector banks ... and this is the biggest concern of Modi government ...

She is much better placed than others to face the NPA raagaa ... not that Raagaa (Rahul Gandhi) for sure ... haha ...

Jumbo - The Silent Assasin

[I am reproducing this piece written for Meri News on Nov 4, 2008 when someone special was 22]

RENOWNED FOR his ten wicket haul in a Test innings against Pakistan in New Delhi in 1999, becoming only the second bowler to achieve the feat after Englishman Jim Laker; his best one-day performance was six for twelve against West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata during the Hero Cup tournament in 1993. He is the leading wicket-taker for India and the third highest in the world with 619 wickets from 132 tests and 337 from 271 one dayers.

Yes, we are talking about Anil Kumble, Jumbo as he was known in the cricket world, who hung his boots up on the final day’s play of the third Test of Border - Gavaskar trophy played at Feroz Shah Kotla.

Kumble had been a true ambassador of cricket. He certainly did not spin the ball as prodigiously as the great Aussie leggie Shane Warne did but he was a bowler of his own kind. He was famous for his nagging line and length and the lift he used to get on any pitch. He was more in Bhagwat Chandrashekhar’s mould.

Warne could be a great competitor and most aggressive spinners of all times, but Kumble too was not far behind. What is striking about Kumble is that he is a great ambassador of cricket. It was reflected in his 18-years-long international career when he only once pushed his way into the match referee’s room in the infamous Sydney Test. The one-liner statement which he made after the Test in a press conference defines what Jumbo is all about - he had said only one team was playing in the spirit of the game.

There had been a number of occasions when Warne had overstepped the code of conduct, but Kumble did not slide himself into that orbit. He never even passed banter, leave alone resorting to sledging. This quality of Jumbo certainly makes him bigger in the cricket world than Warne. Patience and perseverance are two of the most important elements for a spinner’s success and present abundantly in Kumble’s character.

His ability to raise the morale of the team especially when the chips are down played a pivotal role in some of the team’s notable performances. Who can forget the 2002 Test against West Indies at Antigua where Kumble came out to bowl with a broken jaw and heavily bandaged around the face or more recently the first Test of the Border - Gavaskar Trophy at Bangalore where after suffering a shoulder injury he came back to bowl just hours later, leaving everyone awe-struck. Further still, he took a catch running back of Mitchell Johnson, caring little for the 11 stitches on his left hand in the third Test at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

His workaholism was well drafted when he tirelessly bowled 72 overs in a Test innings against Sri Lanka at Premadasa stadium in Colombo, in 1997. In this inning Sri Lanka scored 952 runs in 271 overs in reply to India’s 537 in 167.3 overs and the match ended in a draw.

Kumble has broken numerous records in his nearly two decades long uncelebrated career. In 2001, he became the first Indian spinner to capture 300 wickets in Tests and went on to achieve the landmark in one-day cricket just a year later. Earlier this year, Kumble became the first Indian bowler and only the third in the world behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne to take 600 wickets in Test matches. The icing on the cake came at The Oval as he put together a well crafted century, a feat which he later described as one of the most cherished moments of his life.

After Sunil Gavaskar, there came Sachin Tendulkar. After Kumble, there certainly is somebody waiting in the wings of his calibre to fill up the void. But sheer calibre and skills will not make him slide into Kumble’s shoes. The successor can only be so called when he plays cricket the way Jumbo played - a thorough gentleman. Let’s salute for the last time this ’silent assassin’ from Bangalore for laying down his gun.

To Be LinkedIn With Microsoft - What Does It Mean To Satya

Engrossed in a writeup on "maamooli banker" and later towards the evening about Vijay Mallya's case in DRT, pat came a news falling on my ears ...

Microsoft buys LinkedIn for $26.2 billion ... the headline rocked across media ...

As usual all business media got into act, first hailing the acquisition and a couple of days later, dishing out some harsh realities of the deal ...

To me, Microsoft is like a desperate middle age woman trying all cosmetic products or services expensive to regain her beauty and admirers ... haha ...

Will this damsel succeed in regaining her beauty and admirers?

Surely very few can do it, one among them being The Eternal Beauty - Hema Malini.

And in tech annals, Bill Gates come to my mind, who was the smartest among all. He knew the art of making right moves at highs ... These endeavours cemented his reputation forever as super successful czar ... how true!!!

Can Satya Nadella ever be a Bill Gates? ... This may sound small ... let's make it even bigger a query ...

Can Microsoft transform businesses and workers’ productivity worldwide by Linking Up the LinkedIn? It seems fanciful ...

They LinkedUp $26.2 billion to buy LinkedIn ... Could have waited a year or so, the cost could have been considerably less, for shedding $11 billion from its market value when their share price shrank by more than 40 per cent in a day, was an indication clear, the ship was sinking deep since February ...

Despite these worries, Microsoft paid a generous 50 per cent premium for buying a headache - that is LinkedIn ...

How Microsoft adds users to LinkedIn’s platform more quickly and how it can make more money from their data, remains to be seen ... a bad headache at that ...

And why Nadella intends to keep LinkedIn as an independent company .... Perhaps his company has seen the pitfalls of integrating large acquisitions at first hand ....  And Microsoft has a history, a history replete with big deal failures - they squandered over $6.3 billion on aQuantive and $7.6 billion on Nokia’s handset business ...

These misfortunes happened before Nadella took over, but in coming days these might take him over ... let's see ...

Now let's turn pages of behavioural headache that Microsoft has to deal with ...

Keeping the employees of large firms LinkedIn will be a big challenge because they block or restrict access to it as it makes money from recruiters out to poach their staff ...

Users may also grow uncomfortable if Microsoft deploys their data elsewhere and could stop using the service. Mr Nadella has acknowledged they will have to treat what they know about users “tastefully”.

But sometimes there are Microsoft successes like X-Box, but they are few and far in-between ... Their strategy is like throwing dung at the wall - something sticks, but mostly slithers down ... haha ...

This new deal means Microsoft can embed LinkedIn with Skype, its email system and other Microsoft enterprise products so that, in the words of one Silicon Valley expert, it will be able ‘to recreate the connective tissue for enterprises. ...

All said and done,  I only hope Nadella continues to take good care of his company's bread and butter: Windows. They may need it to pay for their big mistakes ... haha ...

Note: Mamooli Banker is the comment made by Arun Shourie, not me ... Hope I am forgiven by someone extraordinarly special .....

Muhammad Ali - From The Pages Of Verses To The Bouts Of The Rings

March 8, I always cherish and also abhor ....

International Women's Day is celebrated on my birthday ... which I cherish about ...

And I abhor, for Muhammad Ali faced his first professional loss in his boxing career ... yes he lost to Joe Frazier after 15 rounds on March 8, 1971 .... I abhor more, for I always have a soft corner for poets, and Ali was no mean poet ... His "I float like a butterfly, sting like a bee .." being my all-time favorite ...

Trounced he was, but avenged the defeat, and never allowed his bete noire Frazier to overpower him for life .... he defeated him twice in two bouts, on January 24, 1974 and October 1, 1975 ...

That fighting spirit, to hit back at the opponents including the most powerful governments around the world, is not a joke but commendable, an inspiration for generations to come to raise voice against something which you think isn't correct, politically or apolitically .....

I wonder, the Virats and Tendulkars have the fighting spirit of the legendary boxer to take on the government of the day by its neck, questioning its policies ...

Or even a word against Vijay Mallya, the Man Friday who is holed up in a rat hole somewhere in London to catch a glimpse of his team RCB losing in IPL finals against Sunrisers Hyderabad ....

The Bevada (Mallya, the drinker) had left India, for he owes over Rs 9,000 core to the Indian banks ... what a fall for Mallya - from opulence to misery ... thats another issue ...

I wouldn't be surprised if Mallya had a tough time with Ali, famously known for his maverick braggings ...

The boxer wouldn't have spared Mallya either and verbally punched him as he did punching the sandbags ... would have done without much caring even if he was bought over in an auction by the liquor baron ...

I don't think Virat has that juice to juice up the media space ... and hence it wasn't worthwhile for any of us (Journalists) to ask questions on Mallya in all nine matches played at Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru ...

But there was one ... asked by a very respected and veteran journalist, but the question was evaded as cowardly as a wild duck  ....

VIETNAM WAR

Getting back to Ali, he had championed many issues relating to civil rights and racial equality ... also stood up against the US war in Vietnam and refused to be drafted in the Army ...

The incident was highly controversial at the time and Ali even took his case as high as the US Supreme Court where he was acquitted of all charges ...

But before he could win this battle, he fought a different kind of a battle off the ring, without the gloves on ... He was denied a boxing license and stripped of his passport between the age of 25 and 29 ...

But the legendary boxer donned the gloves of social activism and made public speeches, criticising the Vietnam war and advocating African-American pride and racial justice ... This stance even, it is said, inspired Martin Luther King Junior to publicly voice his opposition to the war ...

IRAQ WAR

And how he infused life into the hopeless condition of 15 US citizens who were taken hostage by Saddam Hussein in the run up to the Gulf War ... is a well-documented episode ...

He flew to Iraq, and hardly could walk, talk and stand due to the Parkinson's disease, and yet succeeded in flying out all the 15 in tow out of Baghdad, but he had to wait for a week's time for Saddam to invite him for a talk, till then he had ran out of his Parkinson's medication ....

He flew out of Bhagdad on Dec 2, 1990 ... and was humbled. The released hostages thanked him, and in reply the legend said: "They don't owe me nothin."

For this humane work, Ali was criticised by Bush White House alleging the mission was one of self-aggrandizement, that he was just in search of more publicity

The ringmaster that he was landed a knockout punch on Bush administration by saying, "I do need publicity, but not for what I do for good! I need publicity for my book, I need publicity for my fights, I need publicity for my movie — but not for helping people. Then it’s no longer sincere."

He did not stop at that he had undertaken many such missions in South Africa, Cuba, India and many other countries ... travelling as the UN Ambassador of Peace

A POET-BOXER

All these, a poet only can do with eloquence, for a poet's heart is full of love, even if the verses sound rebellious ... the verses, the anger stems out of supreme love for humanity, nothing else ...

And Ali lived a life of a poet, made boxing look poetic, brought  grace into the world of the rings with his style and grace ... surely a poet could only import that from the pages of verses to the bouts of the rings ...

Tamil Naad Special: Understanding The Amma In Jayalalithaa Is Like Understanding Victory

Contrary to the three idiots - the TRP guys ... I needn't take their names ... you guessed it right ... I was the only cub reporter who wrote in this blog, that Jayalalithaa would pass through the test of anti-incumbency ...

It takes little bit of idiocy to make right analysis and prediction ... I do not claim all my predictions came good, but majority did ...

Exit polls - readers do not believe ... but just enjoy the three idiots, going around tom-toming about it ...

Yeah ... empty vessels make lot of noise, and that's evident while watching them howl, and that makes my granny also catch her stomach, giving a nice photo-op of toothless laughter wide open without understanding a bit they bark about ... haha ...

Pause

I want to go into the why of Jayalalithaa won the elections, probably leaving Karunanidhi hopeful of at least trouncing his bete noire in the next birth ... I must check whether the DMK ratifies the truth of rebirth .... that's another issue ... lets stop at that ...

REASON ONE

There are some idiots, who go about claiming Jayalalithaa won Tamil Naad poll because of the Karnataka High Court verdict acquitting Jayalalithaa in a multi-crore disproportionate assets case ... if ever I may believe this, it could be anything but rather hesitantly

Idiots fall prey to this premise, and there are no dearth of them ... If corruption was an issue ... Lalu Yadav should not have won majority seats ...

Flip the pages of Indian political history - it is only one political incident that endorsed corruption as a poll issue in a big way ... was the Emergency ... and my beloved was born 11 years hence it was imposed, and she is at bliss, and should be, and that's why she is resplendent and bright, I suppose ...

And that could be another reason why the present generation is thousands of time ahead of us ... we the grey hounds had to go underground to avoid the iron claws of lady iron ... Indira Gandhi, though I adore her, for she was a true nationalist and pucca Hindu in conduct, unlike her daughter-in-law Sonia, whose chapter of Hindu-baiting is almost closed ....

REASON TWO

Vibhishana ... one must know ... was the younger brother of Ravana, who deserted the Shiva-bhakt and joined Rama's army ... which eventually defeated the rakshasha ...

M K Azhagiri, Karunanidhi's sulking elder son, for sure is modern 'convulated' Vibhishana, who ensured DMK's debacle ...

DMK's debacle means Jayalalithaa's victory for sure, the Congress nowhere in the picture ever since the greatest of souls Kumarasami Kamaraj's party lost the February 1967 Tamil Naad assembly poll ...

Who is to blame? Surely, not Rahul baba ... haha ... for a change ...

REASON THREE

Masterstroke should it be called ... Yes I guess ... Amma, as Jayalalithaa is fondly known, fielded under performing ministers and disloyal leaders, against DMK bigwigs ... it worked cent per cent but was risky ... in one stroke the tinsel dame succeeded in checkmating underperforming ministers and disloyal leaders, who could have rebelled or worked against official candidates ...

For instance, Natham Viswanathan was made to contest against I Periyasamy in Attur constituency which is a stronghold of the DMK .... and KP Munusamy contested against Anbumani Ramadoss in Pennagaram and V Senthil Balaji against DMK's strongman KC Palanisamy in Karur ... so on and so forth ...

REASON FOUR

Amma - that divine name ... and how well that goes for the children of Tamil Naad ...

Consider this ... she bought shares of Neyveli Lignite Corporation in the interest of agitating workers when the central government wanted to disinvest ...

And why shouldn't the children vote for Amma for this humane gesture ... They should ... and they did ...

There are few other reasons, but are drab ... uninteresting ... I leave it for those three idiots who are always in the hunt of a grist to grind ... ha ha ....

The Gandhian Apple For Cook's India Endeavor

In India For Next 1000 Years, #Apple's #TimCook Says. Hope, it doesn't mean it will take that many years to become No. 1 ... I tweeted thus ... and in reply ...

Horace Dediu, an Apple representative, replied: "If it must then it will" ...

Impressed was I, for that was a very humble reply, and for me being humble is the first step towards success ... Mahatma Gandhi comes to my mind, a personification of humbleness ... and surely of greatness .. a deadly combination indeed ...

Browsing through high-profile reportage of Apple CEO Tim Cook in India, I was disappointed with many editorial pieces ...

They had on their fingertips the purpose of Cook to foray into the Indian markets after the iPhone sales slowed down in China in spite of having a manufacturing plant, which made the product a tad cheaper and yet fatter price wise ...

They also could explain the purpose of Cook visiting Siddivinayaka Temple, watching an IPL match and meeting up Bollywood Badshah Shah Ruk Khan and others ...

Well -  God, cricket and Bollywood is the soul of Indian psyche ... and Cook cooked up the right recipe to serve himself as a tasty treat to woo the Indian buyers mirthed in the triumvirate .... haha ...

A smart move indeed ...

The editors also wrote about and gave an account of repercussions a Apple manufacturing unit could bear in Indian market ... will it succeed, or whether it would be beneficial for him to open one such in India.

Cook did not open up on the issue as he had a painful history past him, which prompted him to foray into India, a huge market indeed ...

All said and done, but almost all 99 per cent editors did not add salt (read business model), a vital ingredient for Cook to cook tastier food (product) to serve (retail) for Indian taste buds ... haha ....

What could be the business model Cook adopt to win rather frugal Indians who are price sensitive ... anything pricey, a touch-things-not psyche prances the mind prompting Indians to buy a most useful product than a luxurious item like an iPhone ... that's the biggest challenge for Cook ...

So, what ingredients Cook could mix to cook a tasty food or at least a brunch ...

Well he could peep into Mahtama Gandhi's business model to sell khadi on large scale ...

What the Mahatma did ... a genius as he was - applied the dynamics of what I call the business-model-of-purpose ...

Gandhi tagged purpose for selling khadi ... in other words he succeeded in sending across the message - WHY SHOULD AN INDIAN BUY KHADI ... FOR WHAT PURPOSE ...

The purpose was to achieve Independence and Governance ...

Cook can well pick this model up - the business-model-of-purpose ... but he must go into the genuineness mind of the Mahatma to perfectly arrive at an answer ...

The answer to the query: WHY SHOULD AN INDIAN BUY MY PREMIUM iPHONE AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE ....

Hope it could work in spite of very well knowing I am not an economist or a businessman ...

Alas even the Mahatma wasn't one ... certainly not as qualified as Raghuram Rajan, but even hundreds of Rajan minds cannot add up to the mind of the Mahatma, a thorough simpleton with a touch of practical experiences in abundance ....

There is a lesson for those who are singing paeans of Rajan - that he alone can ship the boat to the beaches ... haha, how foolish ... consider Gandhi ... and why not consider Modi ...

Yes, Narendra Damodardas Modi, a chaiwala who knew the dynamics of tagging a purpose-model to sell chai ... sell tea ... a secret which a headweight Manishankar Aiyar could have picked up instead of bringing electoral insult to his party - Congress - with his untamed wagging of tounge, smuttering chaiwala comment ... a snigger that indeed brought about votes for the incredible chaiwala and his party - BJP - to assume power at the centre ....

I humbly, as Apple company is, hope Mr Cook gives an ear to whatever I wrote ... he could well see the ingredients - the Indian ingredients - right in front ... only thing he picks it up; mixes it up; shakes it up; zings it up, before he could cook a recipe for an Indian taste bud ... think Cook Saheb ....

India could be yours and the world in your pockets ....

Why Media Is Silent Over Swamy's Letter Accusing Rajan For Hushing Up ED probe

Image result for swamy raghuram rajan

The latest tussle between Subramanian Swamy and RBI Governor has brought out the funnier side of economists ...

Consider this - I am spending Rs 100 on a product which has been included in Consumer Price Index's fixed basket of goods ....

But next day onwards, I spend Rs 10 on a cheaper product of same category, for the next one year ...

But, CPI will still assume I am buying the same amount of expensive product ... when I have already shifted my choice ...

Then what happens after CPI takes into account all of us ...

It will attribute the price rise to inflation ... when in reality there is no price rise at all ...

Lock, stock and barrel, for me at least, the economists or central bank governors of countries (in our case RBI guv) should be given Oscars for entertaining, not Nobel prize for sure ... ha ha ...

Imagine how economists can make us believe the untruth to be the truth ...

There lies the crunch for the resplendent and brilliant minds - Subramanian Swamy - to crush the lame duck, RBI Guv Raghuram Rajan, calling him a green-card holder and mentally not fully Indian   ...

Swamy, in a letter to PM Narendra Modi, blamed market-driven economist Rajan for shifting target from Wholesale Price Index to CPI which prompted him to raise interest rates to control inflation, which spelt disaster ...

Spelt disaster ... it should ... and it did ...

Go back to my earlier explanation ... what it says ... economists make us believe something like "I have a girlfriend when I am not having one, and over it someone tries cementing the relation" ... ha ha .. isn't that funny ...

Pause

However, the rivalry between Swamy and Rajan should also be seen in the context of Swamy writting to Rajan last year  ...

He accused Rajan for trying to hush up ED's probe on ex FM P Chidambaram’s son Karti’s firms’ money trail to Singapore ...

Swamy accused Rajan  for alerting Chidambaram on ED’s move to track down Karti’s banking transactions ... a favor returned for he is Chidambaram's choice for the current post ...

Pause

I appreciate media going hammer and tongs in supporting one of the best economists the world has seen, but why is it silent on Swamy's ED allegations .. why?

What is keeping the media and editors, who are in possession of Swamy's letter, mum?

Why are they not drumming up this issue?

What benefits them in supporting Rajan?

Or is it more savvy and media-friendly Arun Jaitely behind media to rake up a campaign against Swamy to save his chair?

After all, Swamy is darling of RSS (meaning - no media support), but not Jaitley ... that's another issue ...

Why Rajan has not replied and provided details to ED letter for several months ...

What is the role of Rajan in this?

Pause

Rajan, if he is upright, and I believe so, need to do some explanation to clear the air, which the top editors are not doing ...

This will save his reputation ..

All said and done, I pray he does some explanation, for I love him as I see myself in him ... not for his unmatched intellect, but our style and mannerisms match ditto ...

And I believe he apes the mannerisms of actor Dharmendra because I consciously copy his style and mannerisms ...

More than anything else ... I fully see Rajan having the charms of my dad, a women's man ... period ...

BJP On Verge Of Forming Govt In Decade's Time In Kerala

My victory is start of BJP surge in state ... so said O Rajagopal ... He is the first BJP leader in Kerala to win an assembly seat .. a historic achievement ...

Something similar I had heard years ago when a BJP leader won the election from Karnataka ...

Those words were prophetic ... the BJP in 1983, under the leadership of A K Subbaiah, secured 18 seats and offered unconditional support to Janata Party to keep the Congress away ...

After years of long-drawn efforts, the BJP after a gap of 25 years, formed a government of its own ...

I clearly forsee the growth of BJP in Kerala, and I would rather prefer to be politically incorrect, to say in a decades time, BJP will emerge as a serious contender to form govt in Kerala, despite BJP winning one seat for now ... period ...

Why I say this ...

I tried to understand the dynamics of political thought gone into making inroads in Kerala ...

But how to understand it ...

No better than understanding the mind of Narendra Modi, especially Amit Shah ...

What roadmap they drafted to open an account even as making some political gains in municipal elections ...

The roadmap entirely was drafted after considering massive plummeting of Hindu population in Kerala, as per 2011 census ...

Hindus, who were the traditional majority community in Kerala, became a minority and Muslims and Christians together became majority ...

Shah and BJP leadership realised ... realised it could be detrimental to the Keralites’ identity and have serious consequences ...

So, how did Shah overcome this problem which had serous political ramifications ...

He gave the mantra of the consolidation of Hindu vote bank by directing party local leadership to launch a campaign to keep all Hindu organisations, including the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) united ...

He also directed them to strengthen the party base in Hindu majority constituencies in Kerala to reap maximum benefits in this Assembly election ...

Secondly, Shah scored a masterstroke by winning over SNDP, which shrunk the CPM base as the bulk of CPM cadre is drawn from SNDP, belonging to Ezhava community ...

What were the consequences ...

The BJP put up a terrific performance since 1980s period in the local body elections held in Nov last ...

BJP’s vote share also touched an all-time high of 14% in the election ...

The party also push UDF to third position in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and took control of Palakkad municipality ...

It also won about 14 village panchayats ... and it emerged as a kingmaker in several local bodies ...

Going through the pages of political history in Kerala, the BJP's voteshare has been steadily increasing over the years ..

It went up from 4.75 per cent in 2006 assembly elections to 10.3 per cent in 2014 general elections ...

So, what does this trend mean to political thinkers ....

Simple - there is a space for a third force in Kerala politics ... why ... because people are unhappy with UDF and LDF ...

Pause

I reiterate ... BJP will be a party to watch in future just as I watched its growth in Karnataka ...

And there's also a message for the irresponsible journalists, especially TRP guys in the light of Assam and TN poll results, to honor people's verdict and stay away from spreading lies and raking up false campaigns like the rabid "Intolerance" slogan ... Dadri lynching ... Award Wapasi ...

A very senior Union Minister, with whom I had a three-hour chat in his car, divulged some names who have been unhappy with Modi establishment for very cheap-dirty reasons ...

I wouldn't reveal the names and reasons ... but it is anybody's guess .... ha ha

Sanskrit Row: Maula, Inko Thodi Sanskriti De

Just how these nerds are given to the philosophies of dogs roaming around the streets like the Kanhaiya Kumars and the ilks, barking at anything and everything Hindu or Indian ... but stand up for anything Non-Hindu even if it compromises with national security and things ... I needn't say ... the list is long  ...

Manish Sisodia goes about lunatically tweeting - Declare Javascript Anti-National - hardly realising what Mahatma Gandhi has to say about Sanskrit language ... He lived by the Sanskrit texts and gifted us freedom from the shackles of the British, milching actions from their hives of knowledge ...

Why the space scientists at NASA are mulling to use Sanskrit as computer language ...

Why United States has urged its young generation to learn Sanskrit?

Why Germany, Russia, Thailand, Japan and sundry other countries are wanting to learn the Dev Vani ...

They have realised the divine language is helpful in speech therapy, besides helping in mathematics and science ... the list is long ...

I only hope this "sickular" clown reads this: There is a need to carry out research on our Vedas, particularly Atharvana Veda, for eliciting valuable information in science and technology relating to medicine, flight sciences, material sciences and many other related fields.
Cryptology is another area where Sanskrit language is liberally used ...

These remarks were made by renowned scientist Dr Abdul Kalam ...

Hope Sisodia will not link his name to RSS and Hindutva ... like he has done linking Sanskrit with the agenda of nationalism and blaming RSS for imposing it ...

I couldn't stop from laughing at Sisodia for thinking Sanskrit is developed by RSS ...

If he believes so, I wouldn't mind getting him admitted to a mental asylum, a stone's throw away from my home ... ha ha ...

I am proud that my son, who would turn 14 this May 26, voluntarily has opted for Sanskrit, knowing fully well the world of good it would do to him as it did to Gandhiji, Albert Einstein, Kalam and many others ...

When a 14 year old new-age "baby" can know the importance of Sanskrit, why can't the likes of Arvind Kejriwals, Manish Sisodias, Arnabs, Barkhas, Sardesais ...

Understanding Bankruptcy Bill In Mallya Way

Desperate I was of how to make my readers understand this complex issue of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Bill, simple ...

And I decided to write in this way, for I am not an intelligent brat, but a simple guy want to put things in simple language ...

Scene 1

Bankers: Mr Mallya, you owe us over Rs 7,000 crore ... even though there was a clear case of default against you in Dec 2011 and alleged fund diversion and financial irregularities while dealing with our money, we have given you a long handle ...

Mallya: Yeah, I know ...

Bankers: Mr Mallya, you cleverly managed to use the judicial system to delay the
loan repayment to banks ...

Mallya: Ha ha ... yes, and I got one court verdict in my favour. Remember, how I won the case against Kolkata-based United Bank of India in 2014 ...

The bank declared me as a willful defaulter ... how dare they can ... but the defaulting tag stayed till Dec .. ha ha ...

SBI: Mr Mallya, we will make sure this time you will not escape ...

Mallya: What will you do?

SBI: Wait and watch ... it appears the govt of the day is serious ...

Mallya: Lets see ...

Scene 2 (After months)

SBI and Punjab National Bank: Mr Mallya we have tagged you as willful defaulter after your lawyers failed to make a strong case in the Supreme Court on your genuine state of stress in repaying bank money ...

With this tag, you no more can borrow or be part of any listed companies ...

Bankers: Mr Mallya, we still want to help you out ... let us have an out-of-court settlement ...

Because, we have a very bad experience ... when an asset is tagged bad, the value deterioration begins and banks stop earning from that asset ...

And if your case gets entangled in years of legal battle, there would be nothing much left at the end for us to recover ...

So ...

Mallya: If I don't ...

Bankers: Things will be difficult, Mr Mallya ... This govt appears to be serious ... they did not spare Sahara chief, you must remember ...

Mallya: But I am no Sahara boss ...

Scene 3

Bankers: Mr Mallya, the govt has come out with a new bill, called Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Bill, which has been passed in Parliament ... and awaiting President's assent ...

Mallya: So what?

Bankers: We will see to it that you are granted a five-year imprisonment term for cheating by way of concealing your property or income ... you can mess around Mr Mallya, this govt is serious ...

Mallya: Hummmmm ....

Bankers: You were an MP and enjoyed immunities ... no more ... you will not get to enjoy anymore, Mr Mallya ... This code bars you from contesting elections

Mallya: Oh ...

Bankers: The code gives employees and workmen the first right during the liquidation of assets ... there is no scope for you to drag them into long-drawn battles to recover their due, Mr Mallya ...

Mallya: Lets see ...

Bankers: Mr Mallya, we still want to help you ...

Under the new law, we will give a deadline of 180 days to decide the fate of your companies ... we will extend the deadline by 90 more days if you have a revival plan ...

If all of these do not work out, then your company will be deemed automatically liquidated ...

Mallya: Okay ...

Bankers: Think Mr Mallya ...

Can You Breach Moral Obligations - Messrs Mittal, Ambani & Others?

It is a big win for the telecom industry ... so said the Cellular Operators Association of India Director General Rajan Mathews ...

Should he be exulted over the quashing of TRAI's decision to penalise service providers for dropped calls by the apex court? ...

It would be advisable for the industry fraternity to know they are still bound to pay a penalty if the two per cent call drops limit is breached ... They are still bound by the Quality of Service Regulations of 2009 ... they should know ...

Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning ... so says Bill Gates ... and most of the telecom players will not live by it, but lecture over it for others to follow ...

What could be the learning? ... They should open their eyes wide open and see how other sectors have improved means to provide quality service on their own, without the nudging and prodding of regulators and the government ...

India's e-commerce industry could inspire telecom players the way to provide quality service and customer refunds ... also they can take a cue from SpiceJet airliner which compensates fliers for delays and cancellations that happens because of the company's fault ...

Even as I am writing this piece, Bharti Airtel yesterday announced its self-regulatory mechanism, to reduce call drops ... surely a laudable effort ... hope all players fall in line ... lets see ...

But there are many who argued in the courts that the returns on investment in the sector was unviable ... This makes me laugh loud ... Can capital woes of players in any sector be an excuse for poor service quality ...

It is like pleading before the court - Just because I have financial woes, I have the right to provide poor service ... this is another interpretation of Kapil Sibal's submissions ... ha ha ... I am not surprised coming from the lips of this legal eagle who is famous for the most dumbest "zero loss" quote ever made on any scam ...

Moreover, the fact that Reliance Jio forked out Rs 12,800 crore to bid for spectrum leaves me in no doubt that the return on investment in this sector is very much viable ...

All said and done, where must customers like me, you and everyone should go to protect our interests ... surely, it is the duty of the government to protect consumer interests ...

Among the flaws that the court pointed out, the union government must create grounds to demonstrate that call drops are largely the result of failures at the service providers' end, instead of the users' end as was observed by the apex court ...

I assume the government bungled on this score in arriving at computing call drops fine in a questionable method and presumably in a hasty manner ... a hallmark of Arvind Kejriwal .. his moustasche always reminds me of an absent-minded Asrani in Sholay, the celebrated Indian film ...

Harish Rawat Has More To Fear About Than Celebrate!

Untitled-13

As I was browsing through the newspaper reports, I came across one news item of Congress workers bursting crackers after Harish Rawat-led Congress group won the vote of confidence in a Supreme Court-monitored proceeding in the State Assembly ...

Surely, the ilks of Barkha Dutts and Rajdeep Sardesais would have stroked their chests with delirious frenzy of seeing the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre falling to disgrace ...

But how long will this delirium last ... ephemeral is the word comes to my mind ...

How secure is Rawat and his government, is another question haunts me ...

By just one vote Rawat won the floor test, and that explains Rawat's government is nothing but a pack of cards - would tumble with one flick of the fingers as we do in the game of caroms ....

He also is dependent on outside support, with two coming from BSP ...

Mayawati is known for her notoriety of leaving the government in peril, as the 2002 event saw her party pulling out of its seven-month-old with BJP in Uttar Pradesh ... A historical fact which Rawat ill-afford to ignore ...

Rawat won the trust vote, but he is yet to win the legal battle ...

What if the SC gives verdict against Rawat? What will that mean? ... What will be the implications after after the court had validated imposition of President's Rule and over-ruled disqualification of nine rebel legislators from the Assembly’s membership? ...

It would trigger a fresh round of political developments ...

Rawat once again will have to prove his majority in the house ...

Before the court could pronounce such a verdict, Rawat and Congress could think of dissolving the house and go for fresh elections?

But will that be a perfect political calculation?

Will people identify with Rawat's new-found image of having won a battle for democracy?

All these questions will bother Rawat and the Congress, but not the Barkhas and the Sardesais and the Arnabs ... for it means  money for them  ...

And I will be sipping a cup of elixir in my drawing room laughing at Arnabs, Barkhas and Sardesais, who would be claiming to have Rawat in their studios live, all at the same prime time hour  ... ha ha ...

Ashutosh - The Perfect TRP Clown

I was browsing through a column, normally I don't read his, and it read: "When India's top scholars and scientists are so flagrantly narcissistic, one must not be too harsh on a self-made, semi-educated, political leader for being so." ...

This simply is a snigger  at PM Narendra Modi ... and this comes from a thinker, who probably considers education as an arbiter of acumen and efficiency ... He is our Ramchandra Guha, a self-proclaimed intellectual, who is removed from the educational reality of the rest of the country ...

His name played on my lips in the wake of the controversy created by the Congress and AAP over Modi's educational qualification ....

How does his qualification matters, but performance does, and he has proven record of leading a progressive state like Gujarat for 13 years ...

I ask - what good the Oxford-returned Manmohan Singh and Harvard-returned Palaniappan Chidambaram done to this great nation, except running off from an election battle, after  having brought the growth rate indicators to 4.5 per cent in 2013 fiscal ... that's one of their unholy achievements ...

And look what the celebrated chaiwala has done to India ... the growth rate jumped to 6.9 per cent in the very first year of his rule ...

Modi’s emergence from the subaltern to the metropole is a case for admiration and celebration just as these pseudo liberals  admire and celebrate  the names of Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare, Henry Ford, Steve Job, John D Rockefeller ... they were poorly educated but incredibly successful ....

There are Indians too - Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, Kamraj ... the list is long, but the liberals wouldn't even bother to name them ... that's another issue ... ha ha ...

What are they cribbing about? ... Are the degree certificates fake? Don't they understand the difference between an erroneous document and a fake degree?

Until I chanced upon TRP-driven evergreen clown Ashutosh press conference, I didn't all these years realise I could be an ET, having landed from a planet zombie ... ha ha ...

Some of my vital documents bear "Bapu" and "Bapoo" as my first name ... so will Ashutosh have me arrested and send me to jail? ...

I wish the Congress, hit-and-scoot champion Arvind Kejriwal and Ashutosh, had a cup of chai with the celebrated chaiwala ...

After all researchers claim tea has powers to calm people down ... and Modi would have served them in abundance free of cost to repose sanity in them ... ha ha ...

They say God resides in a calm and a tranquil mind ...

Nitish - Mehaz Ek Khet Ki Mooli

Ever since Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Bihar CM, we have been browsing through the newspapers replete with murders, political killings and other crimes ...

Even as I am writing this piece today, JDU MLC's son Rocky, in a road rage case, shot dead a Class XII student in Gaya district ...

For a moment I gave a thought .. asked myself - what could be the reason for the series of crime making headlines in the newspapers? ...

What could it be ... the main reason?

The answer was not that difficult to find .. I got it without giving much thought ...

The Lalu-Nitish contractual love affair was the answer ...

Although Nitish appears to be the CM, Lalu is the Super CM ... without an iota of doubt ... This sounds like a la Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi combination during a decade's UPA regime ... ha ha ...

And why shouldn't Lalu call the shots when he is commanding the largest number of seats in the assembly ... That's politics ... fair enough ...

So, what could be in store for Nitish, given the conduct of Lalu who is not a sort to play a secondary role ...

This could be answer, I suppose ...

That issues pertaining to law and order which Nitish is seeking to promote could be ruffling wrong side of RJD's feathers and antagonising Lalu ...

So, this brings me to tell you what is the conduct of Lalu? ...

Glimpses could be had in reading Sankarshan Thakur's 'The Brothers Bihari', a book that narrates the political story of Lalu and Nitish ...

So, what does the book talk about his conduct ...

The answer lies in the tone in which Lalu verbally attacked former PMs H D Deve Gowda and I K Gujral when the fodder scam grabbed headlines of the day ...

Sample this: "Kaaji Deve Gowda, isi liye tumko PM banaya tha ki tum hamare khilaf case taiyar karo? Bahut galti kiya, tumko PM banake."

And to IK Gujral: "Kya ho raha hai yeh sab? Kya bakwas karwa rahe hain aap? Ek PM ko hata ke aap ko banaya, aur aap bhi wahi kaam karwa rahe hain!"

If Lalu could do this to Gujral and Gowda, who eats politics, walks politics and talks politics ...

Nitish, phir tum kiss khet ki mooli ho ... ha ha ...

Why Shourie Is Attacking Modi, Any Guesses?

Image result for arun shourie narendra modi

Sorry it is more than a minute read

By God's grace I have been somehow associated with Arun Shourie, the biggest name in Indian journalism who made several exposes which stunned the nation and shook the governments of the day ...

How was I associated ....?

Arun Sinha, who exposed the Bhagalpur blindings, was my editor at Goa-based No. 1 daily "The Navind Times" .... Sinha was the young journalist, who was encouraged by Shourie to fearlessly expose the blindings ...

Proud I was, and even now I boast about having worked with Shourie's shagird (disciple) ....

True, and still I believe in Piloo Mody's remarks ... he said India would have been better if it had ten Arun Shouries instead of one ...

Yes I still believe him to be so, but as a journalist, not as a politician ...

I also believe in ex-US Prez Ronald Reagan's famous quote, "It has been said politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first" ... he was comparing politics with prostitution ...

Politicians flip loyalties as do the world's oldest professionals ... and that's exactly Shourie has done as a politician ...

Let us browse through the wavering loyalities of Shourie and for what? ...

#
In April 2009, Shourie was one of the first BJP leaders to publicly pitch for Modi as PM, even as Advani's name was making rounds ...

#
In August 2013, Shourie upped the ante on Modi’s candidature one month before BJP officially declared him as PM candidate.

#
On May 24, 2014, Shourie’s name as FM is making noise in media ...

#
On May 26, 2014, Shourie is missing from cabinet as well as swearing in ceremony of Modi ...

#
In Nov 2014, Shourie's name is missing again from cabinet expansion announcement ...

#
In Dec 2014, for the first time Shourie turns slightly critical of Modi and his govt ... replying to a query he said, "Nobody offers me (a role in govt), what to do?"

#
In May 2015, Shourie flays PM Modi for poor handling of the Indian economy ... says he behaves like a CM ... the economic policy is directionless ...

#
In Oct 2015, Shourie called Modi the weakest PM ever ...

#
This month, Shourie calls Modi as Machiavellian Narcissist, posing great danger to civil liberties and dissent

Pause

Neverthless, I am sure Modi and his team, would not ignore his comments, which some of them may deserve scrutiny ...

In the same breath, Shourie should also realise whatever he is, it is because of BJP ... because of BJP he has held important positions in previous NDA govt despite having no political base ...

Shourie should also fast realise, instead of giving some bytes to the most communally-surcharged Hindu-baiter Karan Thapar, it will be better for him to don the mantle of a full-time journalist again and go ballistic ...

Surely, journalism is the most noblest professions in the world than the second oldest, which bears a striking resemblance to the first (prostitution) ... ha ha ...

#AgustaWestland: Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Daante

Rapt I was glued to a news channel ...

It was a debate in Parliament ...

A debate on AugustaWestland ...

Congress argued that they were the ones who had cancelled the AugustaWestland deal and had ordered CBI inquiry ...

But when did they do it?

After the arrest of Finmeccanica CEO Giuseppe Orsi on 12 Feb, 2013. They had to do it following a huge public outcry ...

#Why did the govt did not cancel the deal when India got the first whiff of unethical practices from Italy in Feb 2012? ...

#Why did it continue to release advance payment to the tainted company even after corruption charges were flying thick and fast?

There are other questions that Congress needs to answer as well ....

#Why were tenders issued to only six vendors as against eleven earlier, thereby reducing competition?

#Why PMO and SPG insisted cabin height should be 1.8 meters, whereas the Air HQ considered a height of 1.45 meters?

#Was it to make a single vendor case as no other helicopter possessed that facility?

#Why the Air HQ coerced MoD to allow it to conduct trials abroad at the vendors’ premises when trials in the case of multi-role combat aircraft were being carried out at Leh, Jaisalmer and Bengaluru?

#Was it to declare the helicopters acceptable without testing them?

The Congress cannot shy away from all these questions, they need to answer them ...

Nor the Congress should gloat over the fact that the Milan court had observed there were traces of the money trail, benifitting the Indians supported by the "invisible hand" ...

One such trail, the BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, is trying to establish ...

He has shot off a letter to ED and CBI calling for an investigation into the alleged links between Agusta Westland, Emaar MGF and Rahul Gandhi ....

Oh, this innocent little child, just can't stop pooping around, even as the mom waits with bated breath to wipe it off ... ha ha ...

An Open Letter To Vijay Mallya

Image result for mallya lavish life

Sorry, it will take more than a minute to read

Image result for mallya lavish life

Sorry, it will take more than a minute to read

In 1930s, a woman decided to take her son to her idol - Mahatma Gandhi ...

She was upset with her son's obssession of eating sugar ...

She told Gandhi at his ashram - "Gandhij, my son eats far too much sugar, please tell him it is bad for health."

Gandhi refused to give advice and told her to return in two weeks ...

When they returned after two weeks, Gandhi told the boy, "stop eating sugar it is not good for health ..."

The boy nodded and said he would do his best ...

The perplexed mother asked Gandhiji, "why you needed two weeks to advise her son?"

Gandhiji smiled and said, "Two weeks ago I had an obbession of eating sugar. I needed that much of time to cut my habit of sugar-eating."

Ha ha ... I wish you, Mr Mallya, understand this anecdote better ...

Your belief that you can win a grim battle to remain aloof from Indian law-enforcing agencies will not result in paying up dues to banks and Kingfisher Airlines employees, makes one and all wise Indians that you want some form of immunity from arrest in case you decide to return to India ...

But Mr Mallya, you are in no position to place conditions ... recall the "sugar anecdote" of Mahatma Gandhi ... which I told in the beginning ...

Why I say this?

Mr Mallya - your irresponsible conduct and unwanted indulgence with lavish lifestyle even as banks struggled to get their money back ... Failing to pay salaries of your airlines' staffers for several months ... Your expensive acquisitions of property and sports teams and your flight out of India has ensured ....

Ensured what?

Ensured citizens to think that you have been left with no goodwill ....

Govt of India is right to expel you, Mr Mallya, from the Rajya Sabha because you made complete mockery of the very process of law you were expected to uphold when you took oath as Rajya Sabha member ...

You demonstrated brazenness in refusing to heed summons from enforcement agencies and following steps it took in the issue ...

Consequently your passport stands revoked .... there is an arrest warrant against you ... banks have rejected your earlier offers of part payment ....

Your future is grim, Mr Mallya ... so what you do?

Two options are there for you, sir - return and face the law ... get arrested ... you could then get bail ... and then stretch the legal battle to years and decades

There's another - things could worsen for you Mr Mallya ... I don't want you to become the next Sahara India chief in the making ...

It is in you hands ... how you want to go about it to retrieve the lost title of King Of Good Times, Mr Mallya, good luck ...
