The Gandhian Apple For Cook's India Endeavor

In India For Next 1000 Years, #Apple's #TimCook Says. Hope, it doesn't mean it will take that many years to become No. 1 ... I tweeted thus ... and in reply ...

Horace Dediu, an Apple representative, replied: "If it must then it will" ...

Impressed was I, for that was a very humble reply, and for me being humble is the first step towards success ... Mahatma Gandhi comes to my mind, a personification of humbleness ... and surely of greatness .. a deadly combination indeed ...

Browsing through high-profile reportage of Apple CEO Tim Cook in India, I was disappointed with many editorial pieces ...

They had on their fingertips the purpose of Cook to foray into the Indian markets after the iPhone sales slowed down in China in spite of having a manufacturing plant, which made the product a tad cheaper and yet fatter price wise ...

They also could explain the purpose of Cook visiting Siddivinayaka Temple, watching an IPL match and meeting up Bollywood Badshah Shah Ruk Khan and others ...

Well -  God, cricket and Bollywood is the soul of Indian psyche ... and Cook cooked up the right recipe to serve himself as a tasty treat to woo the Indian buyers mirthed in the triumvirate .... haha ...

A smart move indeed ...

The editors also wrote about and gave an account of repercussions a Apple manufacturing unit could bear in Indian market ... will it succeed, or whether it would be beneficial for him to open one such in India.

Cook did not open up on the issue as he had a painful history past him, which prompted him to foray into India, a huge market indeed ...

All said and done, but almost all 99 per cent editors did not add salt (read business model), a vital ingredient for Cook to cook tastier food (product) to serve (retail) for Indian taste buds ... haha ....

What could be the business model Cook adopt to win rather frugal Indians who are price sensitive ... anything pricey, a touch-things-not psyche prances the mind prompting Indians to buy a most useful product than a luxurious item like an iPhone ... that's the biggest challenge for Cook ...

So, what ingredients Cook could mix to cook a tasty food or at least a brunch ...

Well he could peep into Mahtama Gandhi's business model to sell khadi on large scale ...

What the Mahatma did ... a genius as he was - applied the dynamics of what I call the business-model-of-purpose ...

Gandhi tagged purpose for selling khadi ... in other words he succeeded in sending across the message - WHY SHOULD AN INDIAN BUY KHADI ... FOR WHAT PURPOSE ...

The purpose was to achieve Independence and Governance ...

Cook can well pick this model up - the business-model-of-purpose ... but he must go into the genuineness mind of the Mahatma to perfectly arrive at an answer ...

The answer to the query: WHY SHOULD AN INDIAN BUY MY PREMIUM iPHONE AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE ....

Hope it could work in spite of very well knowing I am not an economist or a businessman ...

Alas even the Mahatma wasn't one ... certainly not as qualified as Raghuram Rajan, but even hundreds of Rajan minds cannot add up to the mind of the Mahatma, a thorough simpleton with a touch of practical experiences in abundance ....

There is a lesson for those who are singing paeans of Rajan - that he alone can ship the boat to the beaches ... haha, how foolish ... consider Gandhi ... and why not consider Modi ...

Yes, Narendra Damodardas Modi, a chaiwala who knew the dynamics of tagging a purpose-model to sell chai ... sell tea ... a secret which a headweight Manishankar Aiyar could have picked up instead of bringing electoral insult to his party - Congress - with his untamed wagging of tounge, smuttering chaiwala comment ... a snigger that indeed brought about votes for the incredible chaiwala and his party - BJP - to assume power at the centre ....

I humbly, as Apple company is, hope Mr Cook gives an ear to whatever I wrote ... he could well see the ingredients - the Indian ingredients - right in front ... only thing he picks it up; mixes it up; shakes it up; zings it up, before he could cook a recipe for an Indian taste bud ... think Cook Saheb ....

India could be yours and the world in your pockets ....
