Mallya - The Symbol Of Gross Materialism

The much hullabaloo surrounding Vijay Mallya has brought me to the roots of philosophy, my pet subject, and undoubtedly the mother of all sciences ...

Mallya - what he symbolises as? ... a symbol of all that has gone wrong in this world ... whatever you could imagine, from Euro crisis to global slowdown, from market burst to philosophy.

Philosophically looking at Mallya's wrongdoings, all the evils lie in the symptom that he is ... a symptom of materialism, a doctrine which was much abhorred in the Indian metaphysical scheme of things in the past ...

Now, it finds much of a favour in the present Indian society, leading to scandals like A Raja's 2G cam, Karti Chidamabaram's Vasan Eyecare scam, AugustaWestland chopper deal ... the list never ends ... just as the woes of Vijay Mallya ... haha ...

From psychological perspective, our mad materialism is partly a reaction to inner discontent ... and we look to external things to compensate for the fundamental discontent inside us ...

As Lord Krishna explains that the root cause behind all sin is desire, lust and passion ... if desires are partly fulfilled, then we desire more and grow greedy ... And that's what Mallya symbolises ... 

Simple living with great thinking ... and also the adage of 'happy are those who do not owe anything to others' .... have become thing of the past ...

The society now is exhorting people to take loans  - via banks and venture capitalists among others ...

Both bankers and debtors seem to be enjoying life by earning profits through interest and receiving loans, respectively ... but they aren't ... and the testimony is Mallya-Bankers tug-of-war ...

I and clearly see many more Mallyas cropping up in future, considering the desire to make big money, without giving a thought to over-valuation ... Startups, the disruptive technologies, are nothing but symbols of pygmy Mallyas in the making ... haha ...
