As I was browsing through the newspaper reports, I came across one news item of Congress workers bursting crackers after Harish Rawat-led Congress group won the vote of confidence in a Supreme Court-monitored proceeding in the State Assembly ...
Surely, the ilks of Barkha Dutts and Rajdeep Sardesais would have stroked their chests with delirious frenzy of seeing the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre falling to disgrace ...
But how long will this delirium last ... ephemeral is the word comes to my mind ...
How secure is Rawat and his government, is another question haunts me ...
By just one vote Rawat won the floor test, and that explains Rawat's government is nothing but a pack of cards - would tumble with one flick of the fingers as we do in the game of caroms ....
He also is dependent on outside support, with two coming from BSP ...
Mayawati is known for her notoriety of leaving the government in peril, as the 2002 event saw her party pulling out of its seven-month-old with BJP in Uttar Pradesh ... A historical fact which Rawat ill-afford to ignore ...
Rawat won the trust vote, but he is yet to win the legal battle ...
What if the SC gives verdict against Rawat? What will that mean? ... What will be the implications after after the court had validated imposition of President's Rule and over-ruled disqualification of nine rebel legislators from the Assembly’s membership? ...
It would trigger a fresh round of political developments ...
Rawat once again will have to prove his majority in the house ...
Before the court could pronounce such a verdict, Rawat and Congress could think of dissolving the house and go for fresh elections?
But will that be a perfect political calculation?
Will people identify with Rawat's new-found image of having won a battle for democracy?
All these questions will bother Rawat and the Congress, but not the Barkhas and the Sardesais and the Arnabs ... for it means money for them ...
And I will be sipping a cup of elixir in my drawing room laughing at Arnabs, Barkhas and Sardesais, who would be claiming to have Rawat in their studios live, all at the same prime time hour ... ha ha ...
